What readers found in Rollins Pass: Past and Present

“a beautifully written love letter to an exquisite place”

“It is a beautifully written and executed love letter to an exquisite place. You made the reader fall in love as well. I loved being taken back in time through your fabulous choice of then and now pictures.”

“This book is not of interest to general railroad fans, or fans of the Denver & Rio Grande. Rather, as the title says, it describes the mountain route over the Rollins Pass, which was replaced in the 1950s [sic] by the Moffat Tunnel. Anyone who has ever been here or is planning a trip there, whether by jeep, on foot or mountain bike and wants to explore the route, will find a lot of information in this book. Not everything is accessible, a small part of the route is private land (this includes the remains of the water tower and a collapsed tunnel) but most of it, and that includes the interesting stuff, is easily accessible. It’s definitely worth it. Nice to read an update again, with lots of pictures from then and now.”

“I live close to Rollins Pass, though I’ve never been. I need to see this! The train, now passing through the Moffat Tunnel, can be heard in the distance. My former landlord, Tom Abbott, was the fireman who lost his leg in the Needles Eye Tunnel in 1990. He had a bit of a rough time afterwards, but eventually he was back to working on the property. I loved the then and now photos this book is full of.”
